On August 1, 2025, we will make a new start as Marubeni Pharmaceuticals.
Marubeni Pharmaceuticals will take over Sumitomo Pharma's business in China and Southeast Asia, which have been operating for 27th and 7th years, respectively, under the corporate philosophy :"To broadly contribute to society through value creation based on innovative research and development activities for the betterment of healthcare and fuller lives of people worldwide." and will begin full-scale operations. As our contributions in these regions have gradually taken hold, we have grown to achieve excellent results, with sales of approximately 45 billion yen and consolidated operating profit of more than 20 billion yen in fiscal 2024, and have built a foundation for steadily increasing profits. This is the result of the daily efforts of all our more than 700 employees, who aim to contribute to patients in China and Asia and to their own growth. I would like to express my sincere gratitude and respect to all of you, and I believe that we will continue to work with confidence to grow our China and Asia business.
From now on, we will pursue a new business model that does not rely on in-house drug discovery. By utilizing the global network of the Marubeni Group and our collective strength and expertise, we will search for reliable and proven pharmaceuticals from around the world, and by delivering that value, we aim to become a global innovator that helps people around the world live every day with a smile."
